The Ministry of Health prevents 6 narcotic drugs from circulation in Egypt that lead to addiction







Addiction

The decision recently taken by the Ministry of Health and Population to include 6 substances of the "industrial hashish" in the list of narcotic substances, which was long awaited until it was subject to the law after it entered the homeland without being objected to. The decision coincided with the approval of the Council of Ministers on the plan of the Fund to combat addiction and abuse of the Council during the next three years, and the adoption of 250 million pounds to provide treatment and care of patients with addiction and abuse within the treatment plan and awareness, and respond to citizens on the hotline (16023) over the day without interruption and provide Therapeutic counseling for the addict's family, cooperation with health, youth and educational institutions and young volunteers, and helping and recovering from addiction.

Youth Health of Egypt

Dr.. Amr Osman, Director of the Fund against Addiction and Abuse pointed out that the decision of the Ministry of Health came in order to preserve the health of the youth of Egypt, where there were large quantities of drugs entering the country and traded by young people under the names «incense and herbs», and there is no deterrent based on the law, And the protection of youth and the Egyptian society of these narcotic drugs. The plan approved by the Council of Ministers finally coincided with the decision of the ministry in the activity of the Fund, which was able in the last year to treat about 104 thousand addicts, as revealed by the medical survey of drug users that their proportion reached 10.4% Of which 72.5% are males and 27.5% are male For females, while the percentage of addicts is 2.4%, and the average expenditure on drugs per month about 237 pounds, so the Fund launched a national guide to train trainers to prevent addiction and sign awareness programs for employees of institutions, schools, universities and ministries, a group of young volunteers, With the provision of the treatment of addiction free and confidential, and implement the plan through the treatment centers of the General Secretariat of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health, or the armed forces or rehabilitation centers, and in such cases the Fund provides a full service free treatment.

National security

He explained that the problem of drug abuse affects national security and is no less important than the seriousness of terrorism. Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Fund has decided to set the main axes in the plan to combat addiction in the coming stage. First, primary prevention, early detection of addiction and cooperation with the media in correcting the misconceptions related to drugs, Activating the campaign «You are stronger than drugs» to prevent the dangers and addiction, and to make the right concepts about the dangers of smoking and drug abuse, and focus on school students and youth in sports sites to raise awareness of the seriousness of addiction and its impact on their future and health and participation role To worship in correcting the concepts of drugs and addiction, and follow-up motorists especially highways to ensure that their addiction or leadership under the influence of drugs.

The second axis of the Fund's plan is to integrate the welfare of the society with the creation of jobs for them by assisting them in small and medium enterprises, training them and qualifying them for the required work in the labor market, as well as developing institutions, centers and hospitals that work against addiction and treatment of addicts to provide various treatment and rehabilitation services. Remote and isolated places.

The third axis includes studies, databases and good planning to address the incidence of drug abuse among Egyptians, evaluation of the results of programs and campaigns organized by the Fund, identification of the driving variables of addiction through the studies of the phenomenon of abuse and conducting the comprehensive national survey among the community groups of school students, girls and women, On the scenes of smoking and abuse in films and television drama.

Confronting drug issues

الحصري، لـ«بوابة أخبار اليوم» إن أبنها توفي منذ قليل.

كان د. إيهاب صفوت، مدير مستشفى 6 أكتوبر الجامعي، كشف أن حالة "يوسف"
الصحية لم تتحسن منذ دخوله إلى المستشفى سوى ضبط الضغط الخاص به، ولكن يعيش على الأجهزة
فقط.

يذكر أن يوسف دخل إلى المستشفى وكان قلبه في حالة توقف كامل، وتم إجراء الفحوصات
اللازمة والمطلوبة ووضعه على الأجهزة، وتبين أن الرصاصة أصابت المخ مما أدخلته في غيبوبة

Al-Azhar’s Committee of Senior Scholars rejected on Tuesday the criticism accusing it of supporting or promoting extremism through its scholarly curriculums.
In an issued statement, the committee stressed that Islam forbids attacking human beings—regardless of their religion—or targeting places of worship.
Al-Azhar’s Committee of Senior Scholars is the highest Islamic board, presided over by the institution’s Grand Imam and composed of prominent Islamic scholars.
The committee held a meeting in the presence of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb to discuss the criticisms and what they called a “campaign” by some media outlets and politicians against Al-Azhar’s teachings, in which the institution was accused of “nurturing sectarianism and terrorism.”
“Millions have graduated from Al-Azhar all over the world, and they were mandated to teach righteous Islamic teachings that spread peace and stability between Muslims and other people,” the committee’s statement read.
The committee stands side by side with the Coptic Church against the latest attacks, according to the statement.
A new social media campaign was launched in support of Al-Azhar on Facebook by dozens of young Egyptians, who said that they feel the biggest Islamic institution represents them and defends their identity.
A source in the campaign told Daily News Egypt that the campaign, named “Stand with Azhar!”, aims to highlight that “the raid on Al-Azhar targets the nation’s identity and it [the raid] accuses Al-Azhar of all social and political problems. However, the whole country needs to review its policies and education system.”
Al-Azhar faced a storm of criticism following the attack on two churches during Palm Sunday celebrations early this month, which claimed the lives of 45 people and injured dozens.
Criticism against Al-Azhar has increased by public figures and media outlets after President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s speech, which asserted the need to renew religious rhetoric and form a new body to fight terrorism.

The meeting took place in the attendance of Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sameh Shoukry.
The Ethiopian minister welcomed the progress made over the past three years on the course of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He also affirmed his country’s commitment to achieve the common interests of the two countries, pointing to the importance of regular communication and consultation between the two countries in order to enhance mutual cooperation and contribute to building trust on the official and popular levels.
Regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam issue, Al-Sisi stressed on the importance of positive interaction with the company responsible for implementing studies to conclude it as soon as possible.
Al-Sisi continued his statements in this regard, stressing on the necessity of continuing cooperation between the two countries in order to optimise the utilisation of all shared water resources in the Nile Basin, taking into account the development of all countries, without preventing any of their rights.
There has already been tension between Egypt and Ethiopia in recent years regarding the dam’s construction, due to the impact on Egypt’s share of water.
Al-Sisi praised the multiple meetings held with the Ethiopian prime minister, the latest having been on the sidelines of the recent AU summit in Addis Ababa.
The meeting also discussed a number of African issues of common concern, stressing the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation between the two countries in order to advance efforts to establish peace and security on the African continent, both within the framework of the African Union and within the framework of the current membership of the two countries in the United Nations Security Council.
